Dan joined Grant Thornton in October 2011 and is leading the US corporate tax group for Grant Thornton in Southern Ontario. He and his team provide US tax services to our Canadian clients with US operations and business activities.
He is also the Grant Thornton Canada leader on the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). Dan has worked with a wide range of Canadian-based clients: public and private companies and owner-managed businesses. He assists his clients to structure their US operations in a tax-efficient manner and leads a team that prepares clients' US corporate tax and partnership returns.
Dan has advised clients in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, professional services, private equity and real estate.
Dan has extensive experience in providing sound and favorable advice within the context of corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, refinancing, reorganization and restructuring, among others.
He has over 27 years' of US tax experience and has specialized in advising non-US companies on their US operations and business activities.
Dan spent the first 10 years of his career in New York City law firms, and moved to Canada in 1996 where he built and led the US corporate tax consulting practice of a "Big 4" accounting firm in Montreal.
