Phil Noble first joined the Grant Thornton team in Vancouver in 1983. Beginning his career with Grant Thornton in the staff accountant role, Phil progressed quickly and was admitted as a partner of the firm in 1990. He served as managing partner of the firm’s Greater Vancouver Area offices (1997-2006), and as National Managing Partner of Grant Thornton (2006-2008). From there, Phil held the role as Executive Partner and CEO until March 2016 when he stepped aside as Kevin Ladner assumed the role. He remains with Grant Thornton Canada as a strategic advisor to firm leadership.
He has served as chair of Grant Thornton’s National Partnership Board in Canada (2004-2005), and he is currently a member of the Board of Governors of Grant Thornton International Ltd., which is based in London, England. Grant Thornton LLP has been recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada by the Great Place to Work® Institute every year since Phil became CEO, reflecting his commitment and leadership in creating an environment where all of the firm’s people can thrive, both professionally and personally.
Phil holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University, and is a member of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants of both British Columbia and Ontario. In 2007, Phil was awarded a Fellowship in the BC Institute of Chartered Accountants for his ongoing leadership in the profession and in the community.
