Phil Noble first joined the Grant Thornton team in 1983. Originally from southern Ontario, Phil lived in Vancouver from the time he joined our firm in 1983 until the spring of 2008 when he relocated to Toronto to begin his tenure as Executive Partner and CEO of Grant Thornton in Canada.
Beginning his career in the staff accountant role, Phil progressed quickly and was admitted as a partner to the firm in 1990. He has served as chair of the firm’s National Policy Board (2004-2005), managing partner for the three Greater Vancouver Area offices (1997-2006), International Business Centre Director (1999-2006) and as National Managing Partner (2006-2008). He is currently a member of the Board of Governors of Grant Thornton International.
He holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University, and is a member of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia and Ontario. In 2007, Phil was awarded a Fellowship in the B.C. Institute for his ongoing leadership in the profession and the community. Phil’s community work is extensive. Formerly he’s served as Chair of the C.A. Education Foundation of B.C. and a member of its Board of Governors.
He has volunteered with St. John Ambulance (Vancouver Branch), the Canadian Diabetes Association (B.C. Branch), where he served as Chair of the Finance Committee and member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for both organizations. Sports are also a passion of Phil’s—and he has volunteered as a community coach for many years in his community of West Vancouver, B.C.
