Jim is a partner with the Halifax office. His experience is assisting clients with planning for doing business in Canada and abroad, including the establishment of tax efficient structures, financing companies, offshore sales companies, expatriation tax planning, and employee relocation services.
He is a specialist in the field of domestic and international taxation, experienced with inbound and outbound tax planning, Nova Scotia Unlimited Liability Companies, offshore sales corporations and international financing arrangements. Jim is the Grant Thornton LLP leader for the Atlantic Canada International Tax Practice.
In addition to his client work, Jim has served as Chair of the Tax Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia, and has lectured for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountants, and the Atlantic Provinces Tax Conference on various taxation matters.
