    Katrina is an assurance partner in our Halifax office. She also serves as the co-leader of the construction, real estate and hospitality practice for Nova Scotia. Katrina is recognized for her dedication and commitment to servicing the needs of her clients. She provides clients with practical advice to assist not only with their financial reporting, but day-to-day business decisions.

    Experience

    Katrina has over 15 years' experience in public accounting and extensive experience conducting complex assurance engagements in many sectors, including construction, real estate, health care, not-for-profit, university and financial services.

    Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Katrina spent four years as the Vice-President of Finance and Administration for a large privately held business. In this role, Katrina was responsible for overseeing the financial function of the parent company and its subsidiaries, preparing information and reporting to the board of directors, and assisting in key financial analysis and preparation for the decision makers. During this time, she also had direct responsibility for several audits of the subsidiary companies, changes in financial information systems and a lead role in a public offering.

    Katrina volunteers and has been involved with numerous events and groups, and provides professional expertise to various boards. Currently, she is the Treasurer of the Board of Governors and the Chair of the Finance Committee at the University of King's College, and was the team leader and a participant of Bust A Move (BAM), a breast cancer fundraiser jointly held by the IWK Health Centre Foundation and the Queen Elizabeth II Foundation. Katrina led the Grant Thornton BAM team for five years and subsequently helped raise over $250,000 for breast cancer research.
