Expanding Horizons in Antigua

I’ve always been interested in going on a global assignment, so when I heard of an opportunity to go to Antigua for two months to work on an international bankruptcy case, I jumped at the chance. The Partners in my office were very supportive, knowing that this would be an excellent professional development opportunity for me.

Land of sea and sun

  • Land of sea and sun
  • Enjoying the sunset after a day of work
  • View of the English Harbour, one of the most popular destinations for cruise ships
  • View of old San Juan
Along with another co-worker from the Newfoundland office, I arrived in Antigua to discover that we were staying in a five-star resort on the beach. The weather and the scenery were beautiful for the entire time we were down there, and on the weekends we were free to explore. In addition to traveling around Antigua, we took a trip to Puerto Rico. It was fascinating to see a very different culture.
On the professional side, I was very excited to be given the opportunity to work on a huge bankruptcy case that had made international news. I was constantly meeting new people and gaining new experiences, and I had the chance to see how the whole bankruptcy process works.
I would say that the highlight of my time there was meeting new friends and getting to experience a different culture. Although it was very difficult to leave, I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone. Working in a new location expands your horizons and gives you an appreciation for how things are done in other offices. I met new people and I learned a lot. I would definitely be open to other similar opportunities in the future.
