Brent Stefanson

As an Assurance Partner at the Grant Thornton Winnipeg office, I specialize in providing accounting, assurance and business advisory services to privately-held businesses. I enjoy learning about the uniqueness of each client’s business, from understanding their challenges to helping them to discover the most rewarding solutions to their most demanding accounting matters.

Prior to joining Grant Thornton in 2018, I was a partner in a well-respected local mid-sized firm and during that time I serviced a satellite office in Gimli, Manitoba.

During my 30+ years in public practice, I have accumulated experience in a multitude of industries and have, in turn, been able to assist organizations with their annual compliance needs, as well as complex accounting and advisory needs.

I’m equally as passionate about the community as I am about my occupation. Throughout my working career, I’ve served in various community organizations, including as a board member of the National Capital Commission (NCC) for seven years—where I served a three-year term as chair of the governance committee, and also held a position on  the audit committee. I also volunteered as a coach for various sports teams in the Assiniboine Park Association over a 10 year span, as well as coaching AA hockey in St. James.  I have been  a member of the Icelandic Festival for over 20 years. I have also volunteered in many Federal and Provincial elections in various capacities.

Aside from the office and the community, my family has kept me busy. I cherish spending time with my wife, Lynne, and our three children, Megan, Janna and Reid. I love to get outdoors with our family dog, Bennie (after Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets”) and staying as active as possible. For the last ten years, I’ve been an active member of a local golf course, as well as a local lifestyle fitness centre.
