I started my career with Grant Thornton in Adelaide, South Australia. During my time in the Adelaide office I completed the Chartered Accountants Program and became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand in 2010. In September 2011, I transferred within Grant Thornton to Edmonton, and in 2015 I became a member of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta. In 2017, I commenced the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada In-Depth Tax Program.
While focusing my career on privately held entities I have been exposed to providing bookkeeping (general processing for a wide range of accounting software packages including MYOB, QuickBooks and Simply Accounting), accounting and taxation advice to numerous businesses in a variety of industries. With experience in both Australia and Canada, I have been able to grow and expand my taxation knowledge of private companies in particular. Since being given the opportunity to move to Canada, I have developed an extensive knowledge of financial statement disclosures in regards to both GAAP and ASPE reporting requirements as to satisfy banking covenants and other regulatory requirements. Most recently I have taken my focuses to corporate tax planning and reorganization strategies for small to mid-sized privately held companies.
With over 11 years’ experience in public practice, I tend to partner myself with clients seeking a proactive business advisor to assist them with harnessing their potential for growth. I have experience with a variety of industries but tend to focus primarily on the construction, real estate, and hospitality sectors.
I am a member of our Construction and Real Estate team in Edmonton and I sit on the CHBA Edmonton Region's Next Gen committee. I sit on the Edmonton committee for the Movember Foundation, assisting with events and awareness for the greater Edmonton area. For the past several years I have also coordinated the National Movember Campaign for Grant Thornton LLP.
