As a tax and estate planning specialist, my focus is on making sense of complex and ever-changing income tax rules and policies, while finding strategies to help preserve, increase or transfer your wealth.
Working for more than 20 years in domestic taxation, my career has primarily focused on planning for high net-worth individuals, trusts and estate tax matters, family business succession and retirement planning. I also have significant experience in dealing with the tax issues of corporate reorganizations that involve complex owner/manager transactions and estate freezes. In the past, I served as the chair of Grant Thornton's National Succession and Estate Planning (SEP) team, an affiliation of more than 30 specialists from across the country that devote their practices to wealth and estate planning. I am also currently a governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
I take a personalized, collaborative approach to each particular tax challenge, and believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to finding a solution. Additionally, my professional background and wide network allow me to stay informed and up-to-date on the latest laws, regulations and trends in tax planning.
I’m a proud co-founder and former chair of the Grant Thornton Foundation, a charitable organization that encourages and celebrates the volunteer and philanthropic contributions of all Grant Thornton employees across Canada. I’m also the former chair of the Board for Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland, an organization I have volunteered with and continue to support.
