Ken is the leader of Grant Thornton's Western Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) and government incentive (GI) practice, directly managing our Western Canadian team.
Ken is highly involved with our manufacturing and distribution, energy, and technology sector groups. With his unique experience in science, engineering, and government, Ken brings with him a keen sense for advanced technology, R&D funding, an insider's knowledge of the government program policies, and a great relationship with program staff and management across the country. All of these attributes allow him to provide clients with unequalled expertise and advice to help maximize claims for tax credits and other incentive programs.
Ken has over 15 years of engineering, project management, research and development, and SR&ED experience in a variety of industries including software, physics, electronics, oil and gas, and manufacturing and distribution. Ken spent several years as an engineer in the oil and gas service industry, worked as a project manager in the marine construction industry, and ran his own residential renovation company. He joined the Edmonton office after a 5-year tenure as a Research and Technology Advisor (RTA) with Canada Revenue Agency's SR&ED Program. As an RTA Ken was involved with program delivery, taxpayer education and review of SR&ED claims.
