Manuel Caceres

As the Northern Alberta Assurance Service Leader, I work with privately held businesses in a variety of industries, including in energy services, manufacturing, transportation and distribution.

Coming from a family of entrepreneurs myself—and having played an active role in our family business—I’ve developed an intimate understanding of the challenges and opportunities my clients encounter every day. In fact, it’s because of these personal experiences that I opted to become an advisor—I am passionate about helping entrepreneurs and business owners identify opportunities and reach their business goals.

My path to my current position has been a couple decades in the making. Over the years, I’ve articled at a local firm, worked at a public company and helped my family navigate a new business endeavour.

I joined Grant Thornton as a senior accountant in 2006 and have been progressively embracing new challenges ever since—ultimately becoming a partner in 2015. Recently, I have joined the firm’s Partnership board where I am involved in defining the firm’s strategy, governing the partnership, and fulfilling our mission.

I also volunteer at Threshold Impact University of Alberta Venture Mentoring Service, which allows me to connect with other business leaders while supporting entrepreneurs through their business strategy and execution.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, three kids, and two dogs. I also like to run, play golf, and, when possible, travel. As a family, we travel to El Salvador quite often, so that can we teach our kids about our heritage and culture.
