Michael Wetsch Senior Manager Camrose +1 780 679 6430

I enjoy dealing with a variety of small to medium sized businesses, and the unique challenges they face. I also enjoy providing one-to-one advice to those business owners interested in improving their operations and navigating the constantly changing tax world.

Farm clients are of particular interest to me as I grew up and live in rural Alberta, and my in-laws have a mixed farming operation (grain and cattle). Farmers are the backbone of our community and of our practice in Camrose. I enjoy working with the wide range of tax planning strategies that are available to them, along with succession planning to ensure the continued success of Canadian farms.

I have been with Grant Thornton in Camrose for over 14 years, and have worked my way up from providing bookkeeping services to having year-end meetings with clients.

I was the treasurer for the Armena Athletic Association for 10 years, was a City Centre Camrose board member for four years, and was the Chair of the Downtown Camrose Development Corporation for four years. I volunteer with the REACH program (Rural Enterprise Assistance and Coaching Hostel) that helps those looking to start a business or expand an existing business in rural Alberta. Since 2015 I have also volunteered as a clerk for the Camrose & District 4H Beef Committee annual steer sale and provide all the corresponding reporting, which helps support future Alberta farmers. I am also part of the GT Camrose/Wetaskiwin Agricultural Sector working group.

My hobbies include spending time with my family and all of our animals, which include two dogs, three cats and seven pet sheep. We also have a plot of land that I spend a lot of time working on, as well as doing various tasks around the house and the yard.
