Trevor Goetz

As a tax partner in the Domestic Taxation services group at Grant Thornton LLP, I focus on providing specialized income tax services to corporations and their shareholders. My diverse background includes personal and corporate tax planning and compliance, corporate reorganizations and cross-border tax files, including planning and implications.

Over the past 20 years, I’ve helped numerous privately-owned clients of all sizes in a variety of industries—including manufacturing and distribution, real estate and construction, and franchises. I enjoy working directly with private business owners and strive to provide practical, easy-to-understand advice to help them plan their taxes efficiently. Recently, I also received my Family Enterprise Advisor designation, which has enhanced my understanding of the structures and issues unique to family businesses. I have the privilege of working with a number of family-owned organizations in BC, and am excited to use my formal training, along with my hands-on experience, to better serve these clients.

As a Chartered Professional Accountant with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, I’ve completed Parts I and II of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax Specialist Course. I’m also a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPABC) and the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Outside of work, I enjoy volunteering for the Canadian Tax Foundation, where I was previously co-editor of the Focus Newsletter. I’m also a big sports fan—with my favourites being hockey, golf and baseball—and am very involved in the minor sports community, both as a coach and board member for various organizations. Above all else, I love spending time with my three children and going camping as a family.
