After starting with Grant Thornton in January 2005 as an accountant in the Independent Business Group, I was transferred to the tax group in 2008—and I’ve been here ever since! I enjoy the technical components of the tax field, as well as interpreting the Income Tax Act for my clients and helping them structure their affairs in a tax efficient manner. I also appreciate the intrinsic value of helping individuals and their businesses with complex tax work, which has a significant impact for them in terms of dollar value. Furthermore, I put a heavy emphasis on tax compliance, providing my clients with the peace of mind I know they need.
I take a uniquely direct hands-on approach with my clients, which allows me to provide them with a depth of service that meets their needs. I also enjoy teaching the next generation and acting as a mentor to others in the firm. Overall, I truly look forward to coming into work every day.
I am a Champion for the Private Business Growth Award program in South Coastal British Columbia. I feel a real appreciation for what these businesses contribute to our provincial and national economy. I’m inspired hearing about how these companies have grown and by seeing their unique success stories, and love that it happens in my own backyard.
I also work with a few charities located in the lower mainland. One of these is Cystic Fibrosis Canada, in which I put considerable efforts into raising funds, as my niece has the disease. This charity is very near and dear to my heart and, as a result, I try to raise as much awareness for cystic fibrosis as I can.
