I came to accounting in a bit of a circuitous way. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree, I started working in the agriculture industry, providing consulting services to a machinery manufacturer. From there, I managed an on-farm feed mill for a livestock research farm. In 2003, I began helping livestock and grain farmers in Saskatchewan and Alberta prepare forms for the farm support program—which is how I discovered my passion for delivering accounting services to the industry.
In 2010, I earned my CGA and completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Course in 2017. Before joining Grant Thornton, I merged my private practice with EPR Saskatoon, which ultimately joined Cogent CPA LLP.
As my history shows, farming has been a large part of my life. I grew up rural South West Saskatchewan and later in Clavet, and my family has been operating a farm near Elstow for many decades. I still help my parents and brother operate the 2,300 acre pedigree seed farm. I’ve also been a Councilor for the RM of Colonsay, No. 342 since 2012 and am a board member on the Colonsay Housing Authority.
In my personal time, I’m an avid soccer player and downhill skier, and enjoy travelling and camping with my family.
