While I’m officially an Assurance partner, my real role is as a business advisor to families and closely-held companies looking to add value to their businesses, people and communities. My aim is to provide clients with both practical advice and a trusted experience.
I initially decided to become a CPA-CA thanks to my father’s accountant, who I worked with at the start of my career. From there, I worked with several national accounting firms before joining Grant Thornton in 2002. What I love most about this job is engaging with both my clients and colleague. Every day is different and allows me to connect with people in meaningful ways.
I carry over that value to my community involvement. In addition to my membership in the BC Chapter of the Family Enterprise Exchange (FEX) and in CPABC, I sit on the board of the Special Olympics of BC as its treasurer. I was also on the board for Big Brothers and Sisters of the Fraser Valley for 20 years, and was very active with Abbotsford minor soccer, where I was a volunteer coach and manager for 15 years.
Outside of work, my life revolves around music. I’ve been playing guitar for most of life and really enjoy attending live music shows and concerts. I also play ice hockey in a recreational league. Additionally, my wife Mandy and I are blessed with three daughters and three grandchildren who we enjoy spending time with on the family farm.
