As a Senior Manager in the Independent Business Group, I work mainly with small and mid-sized businesses in a variety of industries, including hospitality, retail, forestry, manufacturing, professional services and construction. Throughout, my aim is to really get to know my clients so I can provide them with advisory and compliance services that meet their unique needs.
In delivering solutions that make it easier for my clients to run their businesses, I draw on over 14 years of public practice experience working with business owners. Many of my family members are also self-employed, which gives me first-hand knowledge of the challenges business owners face.
After obtaining my CA designation in 2011, I worked with Hayes Stewart Little & Co until their merger with Grant Thornton in 2016. The best part of working with Grant Thornton, aside from the great culture, is the breadth of services we provide to clients—from tax and financial statement compliance to complex tax, advisory and valuations. I also enjoy the opportunity I have to mentor and train accounting students.
Having been born and raised on Vancouver Island, and with the benefit of living and working in the Cowichan Valley for most of my life, I believe in making a difference in my community. In the past, I spent six years in the role of Treasurer on the board of the Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce where I provided financial oversight and assisted with budgeting. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors for Providence Farm, a therapeutic community and charity aiding those with mental health, developmental, intellectual and age-related issues.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family appreciating all that the Island has to offer. I also love to cook and am always trying new and interesting recipes, with varying levels of success!
