As a vice president in the Recovery and Reorganization group, I’ve spent the last seven years providing restructuring and financial advisory services to privately held business clients, as well as those in the financial services, construction, real estate and hospitality sectors.
In my role, I focus on restructurings, turnarounds, corporate recovery services and business viability reviews. I’ve acted as a consultant and financial advisor to debtors requiring turnaround plans, as well as advised various Canadian financial institutions in reviewing and reporting on debtors’ viability and operational performance (including Canada’s leading banks, as well as the Ontario Securities Commission).
Perhaps what I enjoy most in my role are the opportunities to work as a business advisor with both debtors and lenders, allowing me to leverage my experience as a CPA and LIT to develop practical solutions to complex problems. I have managed distressed entities, representing both the debtor and creditor sides, and used both legislative and informal restructuring processes, including receiverships and CCAA proceedings. I’ve also acted as a court-appointed receiver.
I’m currently the Chair of the NextGen Committee of the Turnaround Management Association’s Toronto Chapter, which provides me with a great opportunity to stay connected with my industry. Additionally, I’m a member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals and the Ontario Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy watching and playing sports, travelling and playing my guitar (which I just learned how to play). I’m also deeply interested in general health and wellness. In addition, I am Co-Chair for the Hearts for Hart Golf Day, which supports the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Care at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
