With over 30 years of experience as a Chartered Management Accountant (CMA) in public practice, I provide accounting, tax and advisory services to a broad range of clients—including private businesses, professional practices and contractors in manufacturing and fabrication and the oil and gas industry.
My primary areas of focus include assisting clients to acquire new companies, sell or exit their businesses and successfully restructure their companies to incorporate new shareholders or family members. This can involve explaining the differences between asset and share purchases or sales, examining financial statements of possible target company acquisitions and advising on potential issues or discussing the use of holding companies.
One of my goals is to simplify complex tax proposals and concepts so clients can fully understand what is being suggested and can go on to make well-informed decisions that are right for them. I also enjoy serving as a sounding board for clients to bounce ideas off of.
To provide my clients with the best well-rounded guidance possible, I remain very involved in industry associations. I’ve been a member of the CPA Alberta Practice Review Committee since 2015, and previously sat on the Alberta Practice Review Policy Board as the Society of Management Accountants of Alberta representative. In the past, I was also both a member and the Chair of the CMA Practice Review Committee.
On long weekends and summer holidays, my spouse and I enjoy glamping in our motorhome in the mountains and the northwestern states. We both have a passion for motorcycles and enjoy riding street bikes, dirt bikes and dual sport riding. We are also avid travelers and have thus far been to 25 different countries and plan to see many more in the years to come.
