As one of the founding partners of Cogent Business Consulting, I have spent 25 years providing exceptional accounting, management and business advisory services to my clients in a range of industries, including agriculture and oil and gas. I’m also proud to have built a firm that grew from one location and five staff to six locations with 90+ staff before joining forces with Grant Thornton in 2019. Throughout, my main objective has been to help my clients develop and execute plans to achieve success, realize their goals and build wealth.
Born and educated in Weyburn, my accounting career started when I articled for a local firm before accepting a position at IPSCO Steel Inc. as the Coordinator of US Financial Accounting and Senior Financial Accountant. In 1990, I returned to Weyburn with my family to become Dean of Operations at the Southeast Regional College, before launching and building Cogent.
Over the years, I have been very active in the local and provincial business community, and have acted as the Chair, President, Director and Executive Committee member of various boards for organizations such as the CGA Association, Weyburn Chamber of Commerce, Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, South East Regional Economic Development Authority, Sunrise Community Futures Development, CAA Saskatchewan and the Weyburn Co-op.
Thanks to my commitment to the accounting profession and business community, I received an accounting Fellowship designation in 2003 and a Golden Spike Award from Weyburn Chamber of Commerce, and was the first recipient of the Roger Phillips Chamber Builder Award from the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my young grandchildren, going to Roughrider games, traveling and relaxing at the lake.
