On February 2, 2012, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice ordered the winding-up of Union of Canada Life Insurance (the “Company”) and appointed Grant Thornton Limited as liquidator (the “Liquidator”). A copy of the orders winding-up the Company and appointing the Liquidator can be found on the page containing relevant court and legal documents associated with this proceeding.
The purpose of this page is to give you a brief overview of the present status of operations and the anticipated effect of recent events on creditors of the Company. The Company will continue its operations from its head office in Ottawa, Ontario. Any future goods and services supplied by to the Company must be confirmed by a purchase order.
Goods or services provided at the request of the Company or the Liquidator subsequent to the date of the liquidation order will be paid in full. Please be advised that amounts outstanding for goods or services provided prior to February 2, 1012, the date of the liquidation order, are ordinary claims in the estate of the Company. It is not known at this time whether payment will be made. Please provide invoices for goods and services to the date of the liquidation order forthwith.
You should not treat the information on this page or any purchase order as an extension or adoption by the Liquidator of any existing contract with the Company or as an undertaking with respect to any of your accounts that may now be outstanding.
