Community

“What a beautiful opportunity to come together, dream big, and envision a future for ourselves, our children, and the greater community.”

-Vibrant Communities participant, Charlottetown, PEI

We’re only as strong as the communities that support us. That’s why we’re passionate about creating a meaningful and sustainable impact on the communities where we live and work.

Our people give back through fundraising efforts, financial support, voluntary contributions of time, donated professional expertise, and other philanthropic initiatives. Through our focused, purpose-driven efforts, we’re making a difference—one relationship at a time.

The Grant Thornton Foundation

Established to help us organize the collective efforts and significant contributions of our people across Canada, our foundation provides additional financial support for local, national, and international causes that resonate with our people.

Our Greater Purpose Program

In 2020 the Grant Thornton Foundation launched this program which connects our people with charities and not-for-profits that are focused on meaningful causes they care most about, so they gain a deeper understanding of their impact and can become involved with work on the ground. In 2022, we committed to making an even bigger difference by donating 0.5% of our firm’s annual net fees back into our communities.

Vibrant Communities

The desire to contribute to the prosperity of our communities is rooted in our firm’s DNA. Acting as a convener, connector, and catalyst, our program brings together a cross-section of community leaders to dream big, explore questions around sustainability and prosperity, and inspire action to spark positive change and make our communities even stronger than they are today.

Growing from Within for Communities

This initiative is a fantastic opportunity to share our culture and give back to organizations that support so many others in meaningful ways. Our colleagues volunteer their time as trained facilitators to coach those working in the not-for-profit space. It’s designed to help these organizations build resilience and explore how they can take their learning into the future. In doing so, their positive impact ripples across the lives of their teams, colleagues, clients, families, and friends.

“We believe it’s our social responsibility to not only give back but to connect with the people of our communities.”

-Dennis Leung, Partner, Chair of Grant Thornton Foundation
