As a Principal in our Tax Services group, my focus is primarily on domestic income tax matters for clients of the firm's Newfoundland offices, particularly privately held businesses. I use a technically focused conservative approach to protecting wealth and avoiding conflict with the Canada Revenue Agency.
I have almost 20 years of experience in personal and corporate tax compliance and planning, including having spent the better part of a decade managing the in-house corporate income tax issues for an international group of companies. I returned to public practice to rekindle my passion for solving problems that make a difference for my community by supporting small business owners.
Professionally, I have taught for and volunteered with CPA Canada and written and presented for the Canadian Tax Foundation. Within the community, I currently devote time to volunteering with the Salvation Army and Samaritans Purse, and have in the past served on boards with the O’Brien Farm Foundation and the Federation of School Councils.
My personal life is consumed, in a great way, by spending time with my wife and five children. When time allows, I enjoying building with wood and tending to our homestead style garden and chickens.
