Having a full understanding of my client’s business as well as their opportunities is important in helping them be tax-efficient, preserve their wealth, and avoid tax risks. My clients are also part of the community I live and work in, which is why I’m passionate about supporting their success. As a Partner in our Tax Services group, my focus is primarily on domestic income tax matters for clients in our Newfoundland offices, particularly privately held businesses.
With more than 20 years of experience in personal and corporate tax compliance and planning, I’ve spent the better part of a decade managing the in-house corporate income tax issues for an international group of companies. I returned to public practice to rekindle my passion for solving problems that make a difference for my community by supporting small business owners.
Professionally, I’ve taught for and volunteered with CPA Canada and written and presented for the Canadian Tax Foundation. Within the community, I devote time to volunteering with the Salvation Army and Samaritans Purse and have in the past served as a director with the O’Brien Farm Foundation and the Federation of School Councils.
Outside of work, I enjoy tending to my urban farm and backyard chickens with my wife and five children.
