Alex Lau

As a Partner of  the Grant Thornton Vancouver office, I advise clients on accounting, tax, assurance and operational matters. From starting my career with Grant Thornton as an Accountant, to travelling overseas to work at member firms, to joining the partnership in 2019, I have benefited from working with a representative mix of the firm's clientele, including real estate companies, manufacturers, charities, technology companies and not-for-profits.

Recently, I have taken on the role of Leader of the region's Construction, Real Estate and Hospitality practice, and am working closely in the commercial, multi-family and residential property management spaces, as well as property development and hospitality. 

With ten years of public accounting experience acquired  in Vancouver, the UK and Australia—as well as my Chartered Professional Accountant designation—I enjoy helping clients work towards, and achieve, their business goals. Outside of work, you can find me volunteering at the Saint James Music Academy—an organization that runs an after-school program in Vancouver’s downtown east side or on the ice playing hockey on my beer league team.
