Charlene Milner

With genuine care for my client’s success, I focus on relationship-building and bringing expertise to understand my clients and their business goals, and help them make informed business decisions. Whether explaining complex financial aspects in plain terms or giving straight answers to challenging topics, I always aim to provide professional service with the goal of becoming a trusted advisor providing multi-disciplinary professional assistance. 

As a Principal in Assurance based in our Fredericton office, I specialise in assisting large complex entities with global operations reporting under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). I help clients in different sectors and industries with financial statement audits, and complex accounting matters such as derivatives, inventory valuation, and share-based compensation. As a member of our Professional Practice Group, I assist in the interpretation of IFRS and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE). 

In addition to various roles at Grant Thornton, I’ve also held senior financial reporting roles in two publicly listed entities operating in the mining and consumer packaged goods sectors. During that time, I participated in the negotiation of debt facilities, issuance and repurchase of debt instruments, and various acquisition and divestiture activities, such as due diligence, preparation of regulatory filings, and managing the associated tax implications. 

To give back to my community, I provide professional financial advice to IWK Health Centre where I sit on Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee. Passionate about health matters, I am also the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of the Chalmers Foundation.  

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family at the cottage in the summer, and I catch up on my travel and reading in the winter.
