Chris Brake

I value every conversation with my clients and bring more than 20 years of expertise to help them reach their full potential. Every successful client journey starts with a personal connection, which is why I act as I were a part of their team. This allows me to stay aware of their issues and make sure we problem-solve together.

As a Partner in Assurance based in our St. John’s office, I support a range of small to large clients in the construction and real estate, hospitality, fisheries, retail, and technology and communication sectors. I help with operational issues, strategy development, financial analysis, and tax matters. Working with family-owned businesses, I specialise in succession planning, expanding, buying or selling the business, and support clients seeking guidance with key public service accounting standards such as ASPE, IFRS, and NPO.

As a member of the Grant Thornton Partnership Board, I contribute to our firm's strategy development across the country. In my Assurance Service Leader role, I help ensure all Newfoundland and Labrador offices operate according to our corporate standards and support collaboration among our partners and principals and all of our colleagues.  As a leader, I invest time in coaching and creating growth opportunities for my colleagues.

What I find most rewarding about my role is the direct impact on our clients’ successes. I also love being able to contribute to the ongoing growth of the Newfoundland business community, including in smaller areas such as my hometown, Marystown.

In my spare time, you can find me and my wife cheering at our daughters’ sports activities or coaching soccer teams. As outdoor explorers, we love camping and travelling.
