Dimitri Sarabalos

As a US corporate tax partner in Southern Ontario, I work closely with foreign, US-based and Canadian clients to help them manage US federal and state income tax exposures. Throughout my career, I have primarily focused on guiding and assisting Canadian companies as they venture into the US market by structuring tax efficient expansions, with an emphasis on minimizing unexpected US tax consequences.

Throughout this process, I work diligently to explain the complexities and nuances of doing business in the United States while implementing strategies to minimize the complexity and help avoid unwanted outcomes.

Over the years I have served a variety of clients in both the public and private spheres, including those in the manufacturing, technology and private equity sectors. My specific areas of focus include tax structuring US expansions, helping organizations minimize their US tax exposures, assisting with US acquisition planning and due diligence, advising on tax-efficient repatriation strategies, conducting permanent establishment and state nexus studies, and supporting US federal and state tax compliance.

My previous experience working for a national Canadian company allows me to better understand the perspective of our clients and effectively meet their needs. I hold a Master of Taxation degree from the University of Waterloo and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University. I’m also a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario Institute and the Illinois CPA Society.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I’m also an avid sports fan and a current board member of the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame.
