As a partner in our Calgary office, I lead multiple financial statement audit, assurance, compilation and income tax engagements for numerous public and private sector organizations. Beyond providing assurance, advisory and tax planning assistance, I deliver IT and financial consulting services to help my clients manage risk, strengthen their control environments and improve their governance.
My primary aim throughout is to work closely with my clients to build customized solutions that allow them to realize measurable results and reach their full potential. I do so by leveraging not only my 15+ years as a public accountant, but by drawing on my prior experience as a commercial fisherman on the West Coast of British Columbia.
In addition to my client work, I participate in various Grant Thornton national committees, including our National Quality Practice Review Program, and I facilitate annual assurance training for senior accountants in Western Canada. I’m also actively involved in the community—as president and chair of the board of directors for the Pacekids Society for Children with Special Needs, treasurer and committee advisor for the Bild Calgary Region Foundation, director of the Grant Thornton LLP (Canada) Foundation, finance and audit committee advisor for both the Ronald McDonald House Charities (Southern and Central Alberta) and Tourism Calgary, and committee advisor and volunteer for the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.
Thanks to this involvement, I received the CPA Alberta Distinguished Service Award in 2019 and the Grant Thornton Foundation CEO Community Service Award in 2018.
While I spend much of my free time volunteering in the community, I also enjoy surf travel, cycling and skiing when I can fit them into my schedule.
