I can help clients to identify and manage their risks, evaluate the effectiveness of their current processes and internal controls, provide internal audit services, audit the controls of third-party service providers, and assess their credit card security practices.
When it comes to assisting clients in effectively managing their risks, I focus on connection and practical advice. Bringing more than 25 years of experience, I provide management, boards, and business owners with informed, actionable steps to help them run their organization with confidence. I want my clients to feel like I’m part of their team- working for them to identify and address potential barriers to their success.
I hold several designations: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and Payment Card Industry Qualified Security Assessor (PCI QSA). I am active as a service provider and volunteer within the internal audit community, assist organizations in assessing their compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), and I have extensive experience helping service providers to report on the effectiveness of their controls related to client data, under CSAE 3416, SOC 1 and SOC 2 standards.
To maintain the highest professional standards for my clients, I also collaborate with the Institute of Internal Auditors as a District Advisor for Canada, and am a member of the IIA Canada Advisory Committee, as well as a member of the IIA North American Chapter Relations Committee. I’m a regular speaker on internal audit, risk and control topics at conferences across Canada, and am also a member of the Nova Scotia Committee for Institute of Corporate Directors.
I enjoy traveling and reading, so out of work, you might find me somewhere in Europe reading a book on business management or historical fiction.
