Matthew DeWolfe

Having worked with a wide variety of clients, I tailor my approach to the evolving needs of each business—particularly those operating in the manufacturing, retail, construction, technology, healthcare, real estate, and transportation sectors. As a Partner based in our Halifax office, I’ve been providing assurance and business advisory services for more than 12 years. 

I’ve developed a diverse technical skill set from leading substantive and control-based audits reporting under IFRS, ASPE, and ASNPO which has allowed me to support small- to large-sized enterprises with governance and risk management, complex financial reporting, and internal controls advisory. Additionally, after spending a few years with our US colleagues in Dallas, TX, I gained a solid understanding of US GAAP standards and public company reporting—both essential for clients with international operations. 

With a client focus on connecting and building relationships, I get the opportunity to see the direction the business is heading, including its challenges and opportunities. I believe each business is unique and there is always room for a new perspective—it’s rewarding to provide valuable advice that helps set my clients up for success. 

Outside of my client work, I lead campus recruiting for Nova Scotia, where I connect with universities, hold interviews, and attract new talent to the firm and its profession. I’m proud to share my professional experience and see students grow within the industry. 

When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my family and giving back to the community—from my previous role on the board of the Bedford Soccer Association to now volunteering on the ice for my daughter’s hockey club.
