Matthew Lister

I help clients with both Canadian tax compliance and international tax planning. My expertise also includes managing complex consolidated financial reporting requirements, resolving audit disputes, and implementing tax planning solutions.

Providing professional services, I break complex financial concepts into small manageable pieces and make sure I understand my client’s business. To build a successful relationship, I get to know my client’s leadership and management style, operations, and their goals. Engaging in a continuous dialogue helps me match my work to their goals to achieve success.

Interested in professional development, I am a current member of CPA New Brunswick and have completed the CPA In-depth Tax Course, CPA Advance International Tax Course, CPA Corporate Reorganization Course, and the CPA In-depth HST/GST Course. With a career path taking me through a Big Four firm and industry experience in the oil and gas, food production and hospitality sectors, I now use every opportunity to pass on my knowledge to my peers.

Within my community, I sit on the Board of Directors for Rothesay Netherwood School and lead their Audit and Finance Committee as Treasurer. Ensuring the organization moves in the right direction, I oversee the spending and advise governance on financial matters. Additionally, as Chair of the Grant Thornton Foundation’s Community Committee for New Brunswick, I help assess giving opportunities and make recommendations on which charities will receive financial support.

Outside the office, you can find me enjoying outdoors, playing games with my kids, or spending time with my family at our trailer.
