Patrick McCormack

As an Assurance partner at the Grant Thornton Markham practice and a leader of the southern Ontario real estate practice, my primary role is to provide audit, accounting, tax and business advisory services to clients in the real estate and construction sectors.  

Over the last 16 years, I’ve worked closely with builders, developers, owners and occupiers as their trusted advisor.  During that time, I’ve developed extensive industry connections and sector expertise which allows me to provide strategic advice in order to enable my clients to achieve their growth aspirations. I’m also actively involved in writing and presenting on audit, accounting and business-related topics applicable to the real estate sector. 

I also co-lead our Grant Thornton China Services Group.  Based out of the Markham practice, this Group is focused on helping business owners grow their companies here in Canada as they navigate the unique cultural, political and regulatory differences between Canada and China. 

Outside of my primary roles, I’m an active coach and mentor at Grant Thornton—and am deeply committed to furthering others’ ambitions and fostering professional growth opportunities within the firm.   I’m involved in the firm’s M&A due diligence process and frequently support the M&A team by reviewing target firm standards and performance.  Additionally, I lead the training and development for our real estate sector assurance, tax and advisory team members.

When I’m not at the office, I enjoy supporting the Canadian Automotive Museum as a Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors, while also volunteering for and being actively engaged in my children’s sports clubs.
