To find the best possible solution for my clients, I joined Grant Thornton in 2023 as principle in tax. My professional satisfaction has always come from helping my clients build their businesses and maximize their earnings while minimizing their tax burden, so this move is a natural progression for my career and my client-centric approach. 

Over the past 36 years, I’ve worked in public practice, first as a sole proprietorship and then through the Stephen R. Leftwick Professional Corporation. I’ve spent my career providing services to a wide range of owner-managed businesses. These include corporate, trust, and personal income tax returns, tax compliance, corporate restructuring, and estate planning. I’m industry agnostic and work with businesses across a number of sectors, including—but not limited to—engineering in the oil and gas sector, electrical construction, and real estate. I work with each client to understand their business and  apply my extensive experience solving a broad range of business challenges to help my clients achieve their goals. I take a holistic approach by creating roadmaps that help them address their current needs while laying the foundation for a strong future. 

When I’m not working, you can find me on my next travel adventure. I’ve hiked through the Pyrenees (twice), gone white water canoeing in many of the prestigious Canadian northern rivers including crossing into the Arctic Circle on the Burnside River, and climbed the three highest peaks in the United Kingdom, as well as Mount Kilimanjaro. For true relaxation, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two daughters, and friends, and whatever the weather—grilling a meal on the barbeque.
