Helping businesses and individuals navigate Canada-U.S. cross-border tax issues is my specialty. I’m passionate about using my background and expertise in both Canadian and U.S. tax compliance to develop tax planning solutions specifically targeted at cross-border clients.

As a Partner in U.S. Corporate Tax, I serve clients operating in a variety of industries, such as private equity, technology, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing. My extensive experience allows me to tackle a broad range of client cross-border issues, including structuring an expansion to the United States, managing a client’s tax costs, determining their tax obligations, and assisting with tax filing requirements. In addition, I’m well versed in how to determine state income and sales tax exposures as well as entering voluntary disclosure programs with various state tax agencies. I’ve also advised clients on mergers and acquisitions both in Canada and abroad, as well as due diligence and repatriation strategies.

In addition, my in-depth knowledge of U.S. international outbound taxation is extremely beneficial to clients expanding internationally from a U.S. tax perspective. Specifically, I’m very familiar with the U.S. tax treatment and structuring of controlled foreign corporations and passive foreign investment companies. 

I’m a graduate of the University of Waterloo’s Master of Taxation program, and a member of both CPA Ontario and the Illinois CPA Society. Although I’m originally from Port Colborne, Ontario, I currently live in Stoney Creek, Ontario. Outside of work, I’m an avid reader and enjoy traveling and spending time with my young family.
